Billing FAQ

  1. How does the Per Active Seat License work?

    You are charged $25 per user who interacts with the platform in any given month. If a user doesn’t interact with the platform during the month, no charges apply for that user.
  2. What counts as an interaction with the platform?

    Interactions include using Slack commands or asking questions and performing tasks with Hyphen bot, accessing via the CLI, or interactions with the Hyphen app.
  3. Do I get charged for users added to a team if they haven’t interacted with the platform?

    No, if a user is added to a team but doesn’t personally interact with the platform, they will not be counted as an active user.
  4. If I am added to a team by the team leader, will that make me an active user?

    No, you will not be an active user as you did not interact with the platform itself
  5. If I ask “Hyphen” a question via the chat bot, does that make me an active user?

    Yes, you will become an active user for that month. Each month it resets.
  6. If I use the Hyphen CLI (Hx), will that make me an active user?

    Yes, because you authenticated with Hyphen and did an action it will make you an active user for that month
  7. If I create a link via Slack, does that make me an active user?

    Yes, you will become an active user for that month. Each month it resets.
  8. How is Smart Access billed?

    Smart Access is billed per operation, which depends on the number of people and integrations involved in the operation. For example, adding a user to a team with multiple integrations multiplies the cost.

    Small Company 20 developers, 2 Teams, and 5 Integrations

    3 people x 5 integrations = 15 Operations = $0.60

    Example 2

    Large Company 1000 developers, 40 Teams, and 25 Integrations
    “@hyphen Please create team BlueSky and add myself and joe to it.”
    1 create team operation + 2 people x 25 integrations = 51 Operations = $2.04
  9. What is the difference between Active Seat License and Usage-Based Pricing?

    The Active Seat License covers users who interact with the platform, while Usage-Based Pricing applies to services like link creation, ENV operations, and deployments, which are billed based on volume or usage.
  10. Do you offer discounts for high usage?

    Yes, we offer tiered discounts based on your monthly spending. Discounts start at 5% for monthly spends above $5,000 and increase to 30% for spends above $250,000.
  11. What are pre-commit contracts and how do they work?

    Pre-commit contracts are long-term agreements (12, 24, or 36 months) that offer additional discounts based on your projected spend. These discounts are applied on top of monthly spend discounts, providing up to 12% in additional savings.
  12. Is there a way to test the platform before committing?

    Yes, we offer trial credits to potential customers, allowing you to test the platform before making a full commitment. These credits are time-limited and must be used within the trial period.
  13. What if I need dedicated support?

    We offer a Premier Customer Success package for $3,500 per month, which provides you with a dedicated contact for support, billing issues, and escalations.
